Hot-Shooting Cadets Capture Home Win Over Colgate

WEST POINT, N.Y. – An efficient shooting performance helped the Army West Point men's basketball team defend Christl Arena and capture a 91-81 victory over Colgate in a Patriot League game on Wednesday night.
Tommy Funk led the offensive charge for the Black Knights (8-10, 3-2 Patriot League) against the Raiders (10-8, 2-3 Patriot League). The junior went 9-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 3-of-3 from deep for a career-high 25 points to pair with a team-high four assists.
Jordan Fox was also in a groove all night, burying five shots from the field and four from long range for 15 points. Matt Wilson came away with nine points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Lonnie Grayson and John Emezie added 12 and 10, respectively, in the scoring column.

- Once the clock started, both teams were on the attack and knocking down shots at an efficient rate. Colgate held a 39-32 advantage with 4:34 left in the half, but Army quickly erased the deficit with a 13-0 run that was highlighted by three consecutive treys from Fox, Grayson and Funk. Â
- The Cadets led by six, 45-39, following the run, but a late Colgate score made it a four-point game entering the half. At the break the two sides had combined for 15 made 3-pointers and 86 points, while both shooting around 50 percent from the field and from deep.
- The narrow Black Knights' lead did not hold for long as Colgate needed just under five minutes to even the score up at 51-51. However, Army caught fire again and this time used a 14-0 run that featured a combined 12 points from Funk and Grayson to regain the advantage.
- Army maintain its double-digit lead up until an 8-2 Colgate run brought the Raiders within seven, 79-72, with 3:31 remaining. That was as close as Colgate could get though as the Black Knights iced the game at the foul line. Over the final two minutes of action, Army knocked down 10 of their 13 foul shots and came away with the 91-81 home win.
