August 13, 2018 | Football
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point football game at San Jose State on Oct. 13 has been moved to Levi's® Stadium.
The announcement was made by San Jose State Director of Athletics Marie Tuite on Monday and the move is a result of a long-time tie between the Spartans and the San Francisco 49ers. The game will be featured on ESPN Networks and the game time will be announced at a later date.
"Our team is thrilled to have the opportunity to compete in Levi's Stadium for our match-up against San Jose State in October," head coach Jeff Monken said. "Along with being home to the San Francisco 49ers, it's a venue that will host some high-profile college football games this season and we are honored and excited to be among the selection of exclusive games featured at this state-of-the-art facility. We have had the privilege to play in multiple NFL stadiums since I arrived at West Point and to play in the stadium that hosted Super Bowl 50 will be particularly special for our team."
The San José State-Army West Point game now becomes the first of four premier college football contests this season at Levi's® Stadium. The 49ers' home also is hosting the Pac-12 Football Championship game on November 30, the San Francisco Bowl on December 31 and the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 7, 2019. Levi's® Stadium previously hosted three college games in 2014, including a regular season meeting between Cal and Oregon and has staged two college football games in each of the last three seasons.
The Spartans will be playing the Black Knights for the first time in the first of a four-game home-and-home series. Army West Point will make its first trip to the Bay Area since a 2014 game at Stanford.
Tickets for the San Jose State-Army game at Levi's® Stadium will be available to the general public on Monday, August 20th at Ticketmaster.com and LevisStadium.com.
