Villanova, Pa. - The Army West Point baseball team dropped a 12-4 decision here Wednesday afternoon to Villanova.

Playing in their sixth game in a five-day span, the Black Knights allowed eight runs in the second inning to put themselves in a hole early.

On multiple occasions the Cadets tried to string together a rally, even posting double-digit hits in the game, but were only able to bring home four runs.

Josh White, Matt Hudgins and Drake Titus each registered two hits in the contest, while Jon Rosoff, Tim Simoes, Trey Martin and White all notched a run batted in.

Ray Bartoli made his first collegiate start, giving up four hits, six runs, and three walks in one complete inning.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

The Wildcats drew 10 free bases in the game, which tied Army's season-high.
The Black Knight pitching staff compiled 10 strikeouts to just four for the home side.
Army sent out seven pitchers. Villanova used two.
White, Martin and Titus each recorded a double in the contest for their ninth, ninth and eighth of the year, respectively.
Each team turned a double play in the game.
Anthony Giachin is riding a five-game hitting streak after his single in the eighth.

Army finished with four runs on 11 hits. Villanova tallied 12 runs on 13 hits.
The home side was tabbed with the only error in the contest and it came during the eighth inning.
The Black Knights left five runners on base, while the Wildcats stranded 11.

The Black Knights will close out their Patriot League regular season schedule with a doubleheader against Lehigh on Saturday and a twin bill against Lafayette on Sunday.
