Cadets Fall in Hudson Valley Baseball Classic
April 27, 2018 | Baseball
FISHKILL, N.Y. - The Army West Point baseball team dropped a 15-7 decision to Marist here Thursday night in the team's annual meeting.
With the victory, Marist pulled within one of the Hudson Valley Baseball Classic overall series record at 7-6.
The 15 runs scored tied for the most in the series history, matching the Red Foxes' total from the 2011 meeting.
Army jumped on things early notching four big runs in the opening frame before adding on three more in the third to create a 7-1 gap between the teams.
Unfortunately, that would be all the Red Foxes would allow. They shut down the Black Knights in the remaining innings to hold the designated visiting team to just three hits throughout the final six frames.
Marist posted three innings with multiple runs, including two with five. Those frames turned a 7-1 deficit into a 15-7 victory, handing the Red Foxes' the come-from-behind win and their first Hudson Valley Baseball Classic title since 2015.
Josh White, Jon Rosoff, and Trey Martin all registered two hits on the night, while John McKenna, Matt Hudgins and Martin each reeled in two runs batted in.
