Army and Air Force Meet in AHA Quarterfinals

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Following first-round byes, Army and Air Force will meet at Tate Rink this weekend for the Atlantic Hockey Association Quarterfinals with all games beginning at 7:05 p.m. It is a best-of-three series between the service academy rivals with the winner advancing to the Atlantic Hockey Semifinals next weekend in Rochester, N.Y.

- Army, Holy Cross and Air Force tied for third in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 30 points each
- The Crusaders had the tie breaker over the service academies to secure third, while the Black Knights' sweep over the Falcons earlier in the year gave Army hosting rights over Air Force.
- It is the second straight season that the Cadets will host the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals at Tate Rink.
- Michael Wilson leads the squad with 29 points on 17 goals and 12 assists.
- Dominic Franco follows with 28 points on 11 goals and 17 helpers. The duo are the only two players who have amassed double-digits in both goals and assists.
- Dalton MacAfee leads the team with 18 assists this year.
- In net, Cole Bruns boasts the number one save percentage in Atlantic Hockey at .921.

- Air Force has been on quite a streak since the beginning of the New Year.
- The Falcons are 10-4-2 this season since Jan. 1 and look to continue that trend into the postseason.
- Erik Baskin leads the Falcons with 24 points on the year with a team-high 14 goals.
- Evan Giesler boasts nine goals and 16 assists and is +13.
- Phil Boje is second nationally in blocked shots per game this season and has 85 total.
- Billy Christopoulos finished first in Atlantic Hockey games among goalies with a 2.14 goals against average.
LAST TIME OUT
- For the second straight season, the Army West Point hockey team clinched a first-round bye in the Atlantic Hockey Playoffs.
- The Black Knights swept Sacred Heart at home with a 6-0 shutout on Friday and a 4-3 win on Saturday for Senior Night.
- Bruns earned both wins on the weekend in net for Army and tallied his third shutout victory of the year.
- The Black Knights had five players with multiple points on Friday and four on Saturday.
- The freshmen had a standout weekend with Tucker DeYoung scoring his first two career goals and adding two assists.
- John Zimmerman posted three helpers in game one, and John Laurito totaled three assists on the weekend.

- The Black Knights are back on home ice for the second year in a row during the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals.
- The Cadets are looking for two wins this weekend to advance to Rochester for the championship weekend.
MILESTONE TRACKER
- With postseason approaching, Black Knights are nearing milestones.
- Conor Andrle and Tyler Pham are looking to eclipse the 100-career point marks by the time they have to hang up their Army sweaters.
- Andrle and Pham have so far amassed 97 and 96 points, respectively.
- This weekend, Trevor Fidler can reach 100 career games on Saturday, while Dalton MacAfee can if the series goes into Sunday.
- Currently, seven Black Knights have played in at least 100 career games.
CLASS OF 2018
- The Black Knights boast 57 wins throughout their careers.
- The seniors have accumulated 115 goals and 222 assists to total 337 points in their careers.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Black Knights and Falcons met back in November at the Air Force Academy.
- Army came away with two victories by scores of 3-2 and 2-0.
- This is the fourth time that Army and Air Force will meet in the Atlantic Hockey postseason, but the first time the games will be played at West Point.
- Last season, Air Force defeated Army 1-0 in the semifinals.
- This year could be another for the history books because if the games go into Sunday, it will be the second straight year that the teams faced each other five times which ties the most in series history for a single season.

JACK RILEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
- All eyes are now turned to the Jack Riley Memorial Trophy, and the team that wins the tournament this year will be the first to hoist it.
- Riley still holds the record for the most wins in Army coaching history across all sports.
- He is still the only coach to eclipse 500 wins on the banks of the Hudson.
- Riley was West Point's hockey coach from 1951-1986, boasts a 542-343-20 mark in his career and won Team USA's first hockey gold medal when he was the head coach in 1960.
- He was named the NCAA Coach of the Year on two occasions in 1957 and 1960, and was part of the inaugural class of Army's Hall of Fame.
