HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colgate led 5-4 with 7:24 left in the opening quarter and that was as close as the game would get for the entire rest of afternoon for the Raiders. Army responded with a 15-4 run that lasted the remainder of the frame. McNeal was a key catalyst for the Cadet's early success, putting up eight points on 4-of-6 shooting.
- The two sides traded baskets for the first three minutes of the second quarter, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Yancey sparked a 9-2 run and Army's lead was at 20, 34-14.
- The Black Knights took a 36-21 lead into the break and began the new half by going 4-for-4 from the field over a six-minute stretch. Colgate shot the ball well too, making six of its first seven shots, including a trio of 3-pointers.
- Army's hot shooting cooled down and the Cadets went just 1-for-7 the rest of the way. With the Black Knights struggling, the Raiders pulled within 12, 50-38, when the horn to end the third quarter sounded.
- Behind an eight-point fourth-quarter effort by Hovren, the Black Knights were able to rebuild their large lead. Over the first seven minutes of the final frame, Army went on a 15-5 run to go up by 22, 65-43, before securing the 69-49 win at home.
