Black Knights Win NCAA Qualifier Match
February 18, 2018 | Rifle
Army had a strong showing with Payne Nunn matching a team season best score in air rifle and Clayton Hanson tying the top Army aggregate score for the season.Â
Coach's Quotes
"We shot at about our average today," said head coach Web Wright. "Smallbore was a little weak, but air rifle was decent. Clayton [Hanson] led the way with the high smallbore score and second highest air. Payne [Nunn] led the air rifle event."
"When all of the dust settles, I think we have a pretty good chance of placing two or three athletes in the NCAA championship. Payne and Clayton for air, I'm pretty sure. Maddy [Erikson] has a slight chance, and I think Clayton has a fair chance to make it for smallbore. It's going to come down to the results across the country."
"It's been a pretty good regular season. Everyone worked hard and the increase in results was certainly visible across the span of the season. We are a young team and I see great growth potential. We will switch focus to the conference championships next weekend in Morgantown. What happens with the NCAA selection will happen. We will work on the things we can control."
