Rifle Closes Day One of GARC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.VA.– No.12 Army West Point rifle team had a solid performance on the opening day of the Great America Rifle Conference Championships.
The team garnered a final score of 2293 in the smallbore discipline, which was good for sixth place.
Sunday, Army will begin the air rifle portion of competition. That score, in addition to today's smallbore score, will determine the team's final aggregate and overall finish.

ARMY
- The Black Knights placed sixth under West Virginia, Kentucky, Navy, N.C. State, and Nebraska.
- The team scored one point ahead of the seventh-place Akron. Their total also out-scored Memphis and Ole Miss.
- Payne Nunn and Matthew Lovre led Army in the smallbore discipline, both shooting 578.
- The Black Knights relied on their freshmen to close out the scoring quad with Kaitlyn Kutz earning a score of 570 and Clayton Hanson shooting 567.
- Emiliano Concha-Toro shot 568 in this discipline with Ethan Cook close behind, shooting a score of 563.
- Nathan Brewer earned a score of 556 and Mady Erikson shot 548.
