Hovren's Big Night Leads Army Past FDU

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Madison Hovren had a great night for the Black Knights with 30 points and 22 rebounds to lead Army to a 62-40 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night at Christl Arena.
Hovren tied her career high with 22 rebounds. She set the record against Colgate when she was sophomore. The 30 points were a season high and she was 12-of-17 from the floor. Libby Tacka was the only other Black Knight in double figures with 10 points and she added seven rebounds. Jess Lewis had a tough shooting night but dished out game-high eight assists.
Fairleigh Dickinson shot 26 percent from the field and went 3-of-18 from distance in the loss. Peniel M'Bikata led the Knights with 13 points and five rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- Both teams struggled to get going early in the game and Army was up 11-8 after the first 10 minutes. Hovren had four points, while Tacka added four points.
SECOND QUARTER
- Army held onto the slim lead for the first five minutes of the second period with Hovren adding four points and Lewis knocking down a three.
- With the Black Knights leading 18-14, they went on a 9-0 run to end the half with a 13-point lead at the break at 27-14.
- Hovren got it going during the run with five points and Morgann Yancey added a jumper as well.
THIRD QUARTER
- The second half featured more Hovren as she added 11 points in 10 minutes and helped Army closed the quarter on a 9-3 advantage and take a 44-31 lead into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Army put the game out of reach in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter with a 13-4 run to make it 57-35 with 3:53 left on the clock.
- Lindsay Scamman was the start of the fourth quarter with five points during the 13-4 run, while Hovren and Tacka added four.
- Sarah Bohn closed out the game with a 3-pointer with 1:39 left and Army came away with the 62-40 victory.

- The Black Knights hit the road to Staten Island, N.Y., to take on Wagner at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
