"Good afternoon everybody. It is finally here, this week that we wait for all year long. We pass those signs in the building and all over Post day after day that say beat navy and finally we get the opportunity to play this game. It is a tremendous rivalry and it is such a privilege and an honor for all of us competing in this game to take part in such a prestigious game and rivalry. Knowing what it means to so many people; to those who graduated from this academy and the other one, to the men and women who serve the branches of service we play for, the uniforms we wear and the colors which represent those men and women. It has been a long time coming – these three weeks leading up seems like forever, but it really comes at a welcome time to get rested, get healthy and hopefully have most of our team ready to play in the biggest rivalry in sports."
Â
Ref.: on having players with experience in the Army-Navy Game
"There are a lot of guys in the game that have experienced a loss in this rivalry and understand how devastating that is, it hurts. We put a lot into it and I know they do too. They're a talented team, a well-coached team and a tough team. They are very much like we are. These are two very evenly matched teams. They have one of the most dynamic players in academy football right now in Malcom Perry. He's extremely talented. They have a lot of guys that have played in these games too. We have experience just like they do and that's just going to help make the game that much better."
Â
Ref.: on sending seniors out with a win over Navy
"It's important for everybody. I'd love for these seniors to have that opportunity. I'd be really excited for these guys to be able to have that legacy to leave for the guys following them and to the chance to be able to say went 3-1 in this series."
Â
Ref.: on Navy's offense
"As you know, I worked with a lot of those guys at Navy and at other places, too. Ken (Niumatalolo) have a history from all the way back at the University of Hawai'i. Danny O'Rourke and I worked together at Georgia Southern before we went to Navy, so we've known each other a long time. Ivan Jasper was a player at Hawai'i when I was a GA there and we coached together at Georgia Southern and Navy. So I know these guys and their personalities, and No. 1 is that it doesn't matter who the guys are wearing the uniforms that play. Those coaches are going to get those guys to play hard. They're going to be tough, well-coached and play with good fundamentals.
Â
"They've also got some very talented guys. Perry carved us up last year like the Thanksgiving Day turkey. He had 200+ yards and had some long runs. If John Voit didn't make that unbelievable play to knock him down, he scores there, and they might win the game. Their offensive line is no joke either. Kenny is an old offensive line guy and they do a great job. They play with great pad level and are physical. I know everybody in the AAC complains about playing them because they're tough and play hard and low. Hopefully people are complaining about us for playing that way too."
