Army Rallies Back to Top Bison on Friday Night

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Trailing 1-0 in the match, the Army West Point volleyball team rallied back to defeat Bucknell 3-1 on the road.
Monica Eckford led the team with 20.5 points on 17 kills and five total blocks. Nikki Lum and Hannah Presley split time in the setter position and combined for 50 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Bucknell 25, Army 17)
- The Bison jumped out to a 16-10 lead in the match and Army could not overcome the point deficit.
- Eckford posted four kills in the set.
- Bucknell held a 16-12 advantage in kills and ever so slightly in digs at 13-12.
SECOND SET (Army 35, Bucknell 33)
- The second set was a marathon, but the Black Knights persevered in the battle.
- Army came away due in part to eight kills by Eckford.
- Lum had 10 assists in the set, while Allie Strong led the team with nine digs.
THIRD SET (Army 25, Bucknell 21)
- The Black Knights stayed on the offensive in the third and came away with it, 25-21.
- Emmy Barnhorst led the way with four kills, while Sydney Morriss and Courtney Horace each recorded two.
- Eckford posted two blocks in the set.
FOURTH SET (Army 25, Bucknell 17)
- The Cadets continued on to win the fourth set and to win the match.
- Eckford and Barnhorst paced the team with three kills each.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Eckford led the team with 17 kills and a .467 hitting percentage.
- The sophomore totaled five blocks in the match.
- Barnhorst notched 16 kills, while Cate Buckningham tallied nine.
- Lum had 28 assists and Presley contributed 22.
- Ana Oglivie and Allie Strong each had 16 digs on the night.
