Cadets Championship Bound After Upset Over Loyola

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's soccer team pulled off the upset and knocked off top-seeded Loyola, 1-0, in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament on Friday night to secure the Black Knights' first appearance in the championship match since 1996.
Army was edged in shots, 10-7, and did not have a single corner while the Greyhounds generated 12. However, the Cadets kept battling and a late score by Keenan O'Shea sealed the tournament victory.
Justin Stoll kept the Black Knights in the match and was key in the win over the Patriot League's top-scoring offense, sending away five shots to preserve the clean sheet.

A Patriot League Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament will be on the line on Sunday at 2 p.m. when Army faces off against the winner of Lehigh and Colgate at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 82nd minute, Pereira had the ball on the far right side of the field and sent a cross into the box. O'Shea was awaiting the feed and headed the ball to the right of Loyola's goalkeeper for what turned out to be the game-winning score.
