Balanced Attack Pushes Army Past Maritime

WEST POINT, N.Y. – On a night that 13 different Cadets found their way into the scoring column, the Army West Point men's basketball team put up a season-high in points to defeat Maritime, 91-40, on Wednesday at Christl Arena.
Four Black Knights (2-4) reached double-figure scoring led by a pair of 11-point performances from the freshmen backcourt duo of Josh Caldwell and Aaron Duhart. Sophomores Tucker Blackwell and Alex King both tallied 10 apiece against the Privateers (1-4), while Jordan Fox and Ben Kinker each added eight.
In 13 minutes of action, Matt Wilson totaled six points and reeled in a season-best 10 rebounds. Tommy Funk saw limited action as well, but found his open teammates during his time on the court and tallied a game-high five assists.

- With a balanced scoring attack, Army shot 65 percent from the field in the opening 9:52 and began the game on a 26-2 run. During that stretch, the Black Knights kept the Privateers out of the paint and forced them to settle for jumpers, resulting in a 1-for-11 shooting start for the visitors.
- Maritime broke out of the scoring funk and began to settle in by making seven shots from long range. However, Army kept its large lead by continuing to shoot with efficiency and went into the half up, 49-25. Eleven different Cadets entered the scoring column in the first stanza, paced by Kinker's eight points on 4-of-5 shooting in seven minutes.
- The Army defense strengthened back up and kept the Maritime offense in check for the remainder of the game. The Privateers were held to two makes on 13 attempts over an 11-minute span, while the Black Knights went on 25-6 run to go ahead 74-31.
- Army limited Maritime to nine points the rest of the way en route to picking up its second home win of the year.
