Buckingham Slated Patriot League Rookie of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After leading Army in its 2-0 weekend, Cate Buckingham was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

The Black Knights earned back-to-back wins this weekend with victories over Bucknell (3-1) and regular season champions American (3-2).

Buckingham led the team in kills with 27 and averaged 3.38 kills per set. She was one of two Black Knights to hit over .352 on the weekend.

The San Antonio, Texas, native averaged 2.50 digs per set in the two games. Buckingham had a career-high 18 kills and three services aces versus the top-ranked Eagles.

Army defeated American for the first time since 2012 as it was also the first time topping the Eagles at home since 2009. The Cadets finished tied for third in league standings with a 9-7 record after winning five of their last six games of the regular season.
