WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Colgate on Saturday evening.

The Raiders led by just one kill in the entirety of the match (43-42), but held a .323-247 advantage in hitting percentage which was one of the difference makers in the game. Â Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Colgate 25, Army 17)
- The Black Knights had a comeback attempt in the set, but the Raiders were able to overcome.
- Monica Eckford led the squad with three kills in the opening set and hit .750.
- Hannah Presley notched five helpers.
SECOND SET (Colgate 26, Army 24)
- The Cadets fought hard in the second forcing 11 tie scores and six lead changes with the Raiders.
- Allie Strong and Courtney Horace each had four kills in the set.
- Army boasted three solo blocks during this stanza which came from Strong, Emmy Barnhorst and Eckford.
THIRD SET (Colgate 25, Army 22)
- Army played strong in the third set, but it wasn't enough to overtake Colgate.
- Strong led the team with four kills and Eckford and Sydney Morriss each had three.
- The Black Knights hit .300 and had 16 kills over Colgate's 13.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Strong had a team-leading 11 points on 10 kills and a solo block.
- Eckford posted eight kills on a .462 hitting percentage while adding two solo blocks.
- Sydney Morriss had a standout performance with seven kills and zero errors for a hitting percentage of .636 on the night.
- Nikki Lum finished the night with 20 assists and Presley had 14.
