Black Knights Earn Commanding Win over Colonials

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – After scoring four unanswered goals, the Army West Point hockey team defeated Atlantic Hockey foe Robert Morris on the road.
The Black Knights are now riding a three-game unbeaten streak this season. The Cadets garnered three points this weekend for Atlantic Hockey standings which is the most by any Army team during a road series at Robert Morris.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights were the first to strike tonight.
- Eric Butte netted his first-career goal 7:41 into the game.
- Trevor Fidler got the puck down to Alex Wilkinson who passed it in front for a trailing Butte who slammed it home.
- The Colonials scored two in three minutes to close out the period with one coming on the power play.
- This gave Robert Morris a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
- Tucker DeYoung had an amazing effort to start the second period with a diving backhand. Unfortunately it was not counted as a score, but it seemed to spark something in Army for the remainder of the period.
- Cody Fleckenstein set up the game-tying goal with 2:30 to go in the second stanza by carrying the puck down the ice and passing it in front. Zach Evancho backhanded the puck past Francis Marotte from the slot.
- With 13 seconds left in the frame, the Black Knights took a 3-2 lead.
- John Zimmerman took the initial shot from the blue line which was tipped in high on the glove side by Mason Krueger.
- To start the third period, Colin Bilek scored for Army off a faceoff.
- Krueger took the faceoff for the Black Knights and Bilek was able to take control of the puck and beat Marotte from the slot.
- With 5:48 to go in the game, Dominic Franco scored his first of the season just five seconds into an Army power play.
- Wilkinson and Dalton MacAfee set up the play for Franco who tapped the puck towards the middle of the ice and it ricocheted into the goal for the score to go ahead 5-2.

- Army had three players with multi-point games tonight.
- Krueger netted the game winner and then assisted on the insurance goal for first-career multi-point game.
- It was his first game-winning goal and first power play goal.
- Fidler and Wilkinson both posted two assists on the night.
- Fidler finished the weekend with three points opposite the Colonials and totals five in his career.
- The senior now boasts five multi-assist performances.
- Wilkinson extended his scoring streak this season to five games after tonight's helpers.
- He now has seven points this season. Wilkinson also has five multi-assist games in his career.
- Franco scored his first of the year on the power play.
- He now has 22 goals in his career and 52 points. Franco has scored 10 goals on the man-advantage in an Army sweater.
- Butte netted his first-career goal in the game.
- Bilek was the other rookie on the score sheet. It was his second tally of the year.
- Evancho scored his second of the year and now has four total points.
- He has notched a point in all, but one game so far this season.
- Fleckenstein recorded his first-career point with an assist.
- Tipper Higgins, Zimmerman and MacAfee were also credited with helpers in the game.
- It was Zimmerman's second assist of the weekend and 14th in his career, while MacAfee tallied his fourth assist of the season and 34th in his career.
- Tonight's assist was Higgins second point versus the Colonials this weekend.
- Trevin Kozlowski made 20 saves and boasted a .909 save percentage in the matchup.
- He is currently riding a three-game unbeaten streak.
- On the weekend, Kozlowski allowed four goals for a 1.93 goals against average, and made 42 saves for a .913 save percentage.
- Tonight's win marked the second time in 2018-19 that Army won a game when scoring two power play goals.
- The current roster now accounts for 418 points in their careers at Army.
- The three points earned this weekend was the most by any Army team in a series against Robert Morris at Neville Island.
- Dating back to last season, the Black Knights are now riding a three-game unbeaten streak against the Colonials.
- Tonight's five goals tied the most Army goals scored against Robert Morris. The last came against the Colonials in January of 2013 during a 5-0 shutout.
