Plunkett Named Army Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Matt Plunkett went undefeated on the weekend in Army's 8-3 victory over Navy to earn the Black Knights the Star.Â
Plunkett was teamed up with Justin Williamson on Saturday to win their match 2-up over Navy which helped Army jump out to a 3.5-0.5 lead after day one of four-ball competition.
He followed his group play with Williamson with an impressive come-from-behind win on Sunday in singles play. He found himself down after the 11th hole and clawed his way back and was 1-up going into the 17th hole. He squared that hole and then in dramatic fashion dropped a 50-foot putt on the 18th to win 2-up and helped Army clinch the Star for the sixth time in the last seven years.Â
Plunkett and the golf team are back in action on Oct. 8 and 9 at the Jerry Pate Invitational at the University of Alabama.Â
