Late Goal Lifts Navy Over Black Knights

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point women's soccer team held a one-goal lead in the final moments, but Navy scored twice to earn the Star with a 2-1 victory on Friday night.
The Black Knights got on the board first with Morgan Walsh getting behind the defense in the second minute of the contest and slipped it past the goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. Sydney Cassalia stopped seven shots in goal for Army.
The Mids saw Cadie Higginson and Eleanor Pratt find the back of the net with Pratt adding the game winner with 44 seconds left in regulation to earn the victory in the Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA. Navy outshot the Black Knights 18-6 in the game with nine shots on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- Cassalia hit a booming punt in the early minutes of the game, allowing Walsh to dash past the Mids back line and slot her shot past the goalkeeper to give the visitors a 1-0 lead 72 seconds into the match.
- Navy found the equalizer in the 83rd minute when the ball pinballed around the box to Baseley McClaskey who fed Tori Mitchell for a one-touch pass that allowed Higginson to tie the game.
- Pratt bent in a shot with 44 seconds remaining in the game to give the Mids a 2-1 edge.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Cassalia allowed her first goal against a service academy opponent for in four contests, capping her scoreless streak in those games at 392:18.
- The Omaha, Neb., native recorded her second assist of the season.
- Walsh scored her team-leading third goal of the season.
- The Pelham, N.H., native scored Army's first goal against Navy since Katie Holder in the 57th minute in 2015.
- Rookie Elise Buonopane made her first collegiate start in the game.
- Sydney Witham, Kayleigh Stallings, Emily Torres and Cassalia are the only Cadets to start in all 15 games this season.

- The Black Knights head to Boston University on Wednesday for their final road test of the 2018 regular season. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
