Army Completes First Meet of 2018
January 05, 2018 | Men's Track and Field
WEST POINT, NY – The Army West Point men's track and field team competed at the Wagner Invitational Friday afternoon.
Â
Â
Army Head Coach Mike Smith
"Today's meet was a good rust buster for our men's and women's teams," said head coach Mike Smith. "We only brought half of our team today because the winter storm wreaked havoc on a lot of travel plans, and we weren't able to get everybody back in time to compete today."
Â
"The people we did bring did a nice job of competing. We had some improvements and some breakthroughs. Now we can collect the rest of our team and return to our normal rhythm and routines."
Â
"I thought Andre Vaughn ran a nice 60 today. He ran right at his personal best in the prelims and then had a big breakthrough in the final. He is a good competitor."
Â
"We have a lot to work on in the next few weeks as we prepare for the championship meets and I know the guys are ready to put in the work. We will get back to business tomorrow and get ready for the challenges that lie ahead at Texas A&M next weekend."
