Army Set for Busy Weekend with Drexel, No. 6 Lehigh

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point wrestling team closes out its home slate for the 2017-18 season this weekend as the Black Knights welcome Drexel and No. 6 Lehigh to West Point.
The Cadets open with the Dragons on Saturday at Gillis Field House with a 1 p.m. start. Army follows that match with a 2 p.m. start on Sunday at Christl Arena against the Mountain Hawks.
Army will honor its six seniors prior to Sunday's dual versus Lehigh: Sean Badua, Matt Kelly, Jack Lucie, Andrew Mendel, Parker Meytrott and Jack Wedholm.

ARMY (1-4, 0-1 EIWA)
• The Black Knights are continuing a three-match home stand that began on Sunday with a hard-fought 19-18 setback against Penn on criteria.
• Three cadet-athletes were in the first NWCA Coaches' Poll of the season in sophomores Ben Harvey (24th at 174 lbs.) and Noah Stewart (27th at 184 lbs.), in addition to junior Rocco Caywood (28th at 197 lbs.).
• Army has been led by its youth this season with five of its top winningest wrestlers being in their first two years at the academy. The freshmen have particularly stood out, holding the top two spots and three of the top six. Â
• Stewart ranks tied for fourth in the nation in technical falls with six.
• Rookie Taylor Brown leads the Black Knights with 14 wins, 11 bonus point victories, five falls and six major decisions.
• Sophomores Trey Chalifoux and Harvey, as well as junior Austin Harry, all have a team-high three dual wins on the year.

• The Black Knights hold a slim 9-8 edge in the all-time series with Drexel.
• Drexel enters the weekend riding a two-match winning streak after taking down Keystone, 50-6, and Franklin & Marshall, 30-12, on Jan. 11 at home. Prior to that, the Dragons posted a sixth-place showing at the Southern Scuffle to begin 2018.
• The Dragons have one of the nation's most exciting freshmen in 133-pounder Austin DeSanto. The Reading, Pa., native currently ranks fourth in the nation with a 17-4 record while compiling 11 bonus point wins on two falls, seven technical falls and two major decisions.
• Earlier this season, the Dragons pushed then-No. 5 Lehigh to the brink, forcing the Mountain Hawks to use criteria in order to pull off the 21-20 victory.

• Army is seeking its first win over the Mountain Hawks since the 2007-08 campaign that would halt a two-match losing skid.
• The Mountain Hawks returned two All-Americans from a season ago, including the reigning 125-pound champion, Darian Cruz, and 133-pounder Scott parker.
