Army Makes Debut at 27th Annual West Point Open

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team will make its home debut this weekend, hosting the 27th Annual West Point Open from Christl Arena on Friday and Saturday.

Action from Christl Arena is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. on both nights with the team finals to take place Friday and the individual finals to follow on Saturday.

TICKET INFORMATION
- Tickets can be purchased at the Holleder Center Box Office. An all-session pass, which admits fans to both Friday and Saturday's action is $25. Individual session passes can be purchased for $15 with a discount for youth and seniors at $10.

THE MEET
- Army welcomes five other teams for this year's annual West Point Open.
- The Black Knights, ranked No. 14 in the preseason College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Coaches Poll, will be joined by seventh-ranked Penn State, #12 Navy, #13 William & Mary, #16 Springfield and #19 Temple.
- The Black Knights return a wealth of their roster only losing two competitors from last season.
- Topping the returners list are Nathan Goff and Seth Cannon who both advanced to the NCAA Championships individual round last year. Army sent nine gymnasts to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
- The Black Knights will see seven freshmen in action for the first time this weekend along with the return of Cole Casanova who was out last season due to an injury.
2017 WEST POINT OPEN
- Penn State claimed its fourth straight title at last year's West Point Open and 19th overall.
- Nebraska ranked second, while Army placed third with 395.550 points, its third highest team mark of the season.
- Goff finished as the runner-up on high bar and third on parallel bars, while Cannon earned silver on vault to lead the Cadets' performances last year.
- Goff was also sixth in the All-Around.
