June 30, 2017 | Women's Lacrosse
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Noto Family Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Kristen Skiera has announced the addition of Leah Gallagher as an assistant coach on Friday. Gallagher comes to West Point after spending two years as a graduate assistant at Wagner College.
"We are super excited to welcome Leah to Army West Point women's lacrosse," said Skiera. "Leah has experienced much success as both a player at Notre Dame and an assistant coach at Wagner. She brings with her the energy and excitement to be a great recruiter for us, and the game expertise to lead and strengthen our defensive unit. We couldn't be more excited to dive into our third season with her helping to lead the way."
Gallagher is a former defensive standout at the University of Notre Dame where she captained the team during her senior season in 2015.
She was a three-year starter for the Fighting Irish and started in all 20 games during her senior campaign. A four-year letterwinner, Gallagher played in 69 career games and totaled 54 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers.
A 2011 graduate of Radnor High School, Gallagher was a three-sport athlete who lettered in lacrosse and basketball and one year in field hockey. She helped lead the Raider lacrosse team to consecutive state titles from freshman to junior year. Ranked in the top-five nationally as a freshman and junior, Gallagher served as a team captain as a senior. Her brother, Marty, was the 2011 lacrosse captain at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Gallagher majored in information technology management and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Notre Dame before receiving a Masters of Business Administration at Wagner.
