FACTS & FIGURES
- Army posted 17 runs on 16 hits, while Bucknell notched five runs on 14 hits.
- The Black Knights had one error on the day in Game 1. The Bison tallied three on the day, including two in the opener.
- The Cadets left 17 runners on base. Bucknell stranded 21 on the day.
- In the opener, Army started the scoring early, notching the game's first run in the top of the first after Lindner singled to bring home Jacob Hurtubise. The Black Knights looked to have been in command until the Bison knotted the score in the bottom of the sixth following a two-out rally. Neither team was able to register the go-ahead run in the seventh, forcing the game into extra innings.
- In the top of the eighth, the Cadets exploded for six huge runs to break the game open at 7-1. The Black Knights tallied three base hits during that inning. Bucknell would not go away though posting three runs in the bottom half. Unfortunately, that would be all that the home team would get as Army recorded the final out of the inning to secure the win.
- In Game 2, Army again jumped out to the early advantage when Jon Rosoff and Martin notched back-to-back hits to spark a one-out rally. Rosoff singled before a Martin double to right center brought him home. Martin stole third on the ensuing play and after the Bison recorded the second out of the inning Hurtubise reached on an error, which allowed Martin to score.
- The Black Knights added another run in the fourth after Josh White drilled a one-out triple. McCarthy knocked him in two batters later when he found a gap in left field for a double. The Bison tallied one run back in the bottom half of the fourth, before a big sixth inning for the Cadets handed them four additional runs and a 7-1 edge. Army tacked on three more runs in the seventh and eighth to ultimately put the game out of reach.
