Black Knights Kick Off 7s Season at AIC Tournament

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's rugby team will kick off its 2017 spring season of 7s play at the AIC Tournament on Sunday at Abdow Field.
Last season, the Black Knights went 16-1-1 en route to their second consecutive 7s championship, defeating the Yellow Jackets, 15-12.

• The Black Knights are beginning 7s play after posting a 5-5 record in 15s action in the fall.
• Rookie Bayleigh Gable led the team in scoring during 15s play with 54 points on three tries, 18 conversions and a penalty kick.
• Junior Rebecca Stipp and sophomore Zye Crittington tied for the team-lead with eight tries.
• Stipp and Crittington tied for third on the Black Knigths with 10 tries during last season's 7s slate.

THE FIELD
• The field consists of 12 teams: AIC, Boston U., Endicott, Harvard, New Hampshire, Norwich, Quinnipiac, Springfield, West Chester and Army.
• Army and Norwich are the only schools sending an A and B side.
• Endicott and New Hampshire are the only two teams in the field that have not played the Black Knights since women's rugby was added as a varsity sport in 2014-15.
• Army holds a 13-9-1 advantage in the all-time series against the field, including a 7s program high five wins against Norwich.
• Army's only tie in 7s as a varsity program came against Quinnipiac at last season's Brown Tournament, 10-10.
