Cadets Bring Home 12 Medals in Day Two

IRVINE, CALIF – The Army West Point men's track and field team wrapped up competition on the West Coast with three gold, four silver and five bronze medals over the weekend.

IRVINE, CALIF – The Army West Point men's track and field team wrapped up competition on the West Coast with three gold, four silver and five bronze medals over the weekend.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTESÂ
TRACK EVENTS
- Army continues to show dominance in the relay races by earning a gold in the 4x100 meter event. The team of Kevin Dyer, Ben Sims, Jose Santana and Tyler Davis clocked a time of 40.67s.
- Cadets took six of the top ten spots in the 1500-meter run. They were led by Keagan Smith (3:48.74) in first and Robbie Santoyo (3:51.85) in third.
- In the 400-meter dash first-year Tyrell Maddox collected second with a time of 48.66s.
- Davis (10.61s), Sims (10.71s) and Dyer (10.74s) capture second, third, and fourth, respectfully, in the 100-meter dash.
- In the 800-meter run senior Trevor Touchton continues to shine crossing the finish line second with a time of 1:50.71. He is joined by Nick Causey in fifth with a time of 1:53.26.
- Freshman Jackson Hohlt places seventh in the 400-meter hurdles clocking a time of 55.52s.
- Dyer continues to shine in the 200-meter dash finishing third with a time of 21.60s.He is joined by Santana in sixth with a time of 22.11s.
- The Black Knights capture five top ten finishes in the 3000-meter run. The event is highlights by Ben Petrella (8:34.11) in second, Johnny Valeri (8:36.56) in third and Santoyo (8:37.28) in fourth.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Bradley Gibson, Santana, Davis and Maddox picked up silver with a time of 3:11.46.
FIELD EVENTS
- Gibson placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.55 meters.
- In the high jump Jeff Giannettino captured third reaching a height of 1.90 meters.
- Lee Bares is a top the podium in the pole vault with a height of 5.07 meters.
- Dawson Hillis and Garrett Kohnke go four, five in the shot put with tosses of 15.46 meters and 14.71 meters, respectfully.
- Kenneth Brinson is the top scorer in the discus placing fourth with a distance of 48.04 meters. He is joined by Hillis in fifth with a toss of 47.89 meters.
