Presbyterian Takes Series Finale With Army

Clinton, S.C. – The Army West Point baseball team fell here Sunday afternoon to Presbyterian, 13-4, in the final game of the series.
With the victory, the Blue Hose take the series, 2-1. Army drops to 7-12 overall, while Presbyterian improves to 11-11.
The Blue Hose jumped on Army early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Army eventually battled back and tied the game up at 3-3 after two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth. Unfortunately, back-to-back five-run innings for the hosts ultimately handed the Blue Hose the lopsided victory.
Matt Hudgins closed out the game's scoring with his second career home run in the ninth inning.
Jon Rosoff was Army's lone cadet-athlete with multiple hits on the day. The junior finished 2-for-3 with a walk. Also notching a hit was Josh White and Baggio Saldivar. Three of Army's five hits on the day were for extra bases.
Cam Opp got the starting nod for the Black Knights, allowing two hits and three runs, two of which were earned, in his 1.0 innings of work. Tyler Giovinco came in for relief, pitching the next three innings, giving up just three hits and one earned run. Sam Messina was tabbed with the loss after failing to record an out in the fifth. The sophomore allowed two walks and three earned runs during his time on the hill.
Blake Walters and Joe Santoro then each added two innings of relief work. Walters gave up six hits and six earned runs, while Santoro allowed just one hit.
