TAMPA, Fla. – A nine-run third inning lifted the University of South Florida over the Army West Point softball team in a Sunday matinee at the USF Softball Stadium.

The Black Knights fell to 13-7 on the season, while the Bulls improved to 15-11.

Rookie Emily Ballesteros collected three of Army's four hits in the game with a perfect performance at the plate, including driving in the Black Knights' only run of the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Army started to rally late in the top of the first inning with a pair of two-out hits by Emily Ballesteros and Nena Riccoboni, but were unable to push across a run.
The Bulls scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take an early lead.
USF posted nine runs on seven hits in the third inning to take an 11-run advantage.
The Black Knights recorded a run in the top of the fifth on a single down the left field line by Ballesteros which scored senior Alee Rashenskas.
