WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 4-2, at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Knights improved to 2-1 overall, while Rutgers fell to 2-1 on the season.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Army improved to 6-20 against Rutgers in the all-time series.
The Black Knights defeated the Scarlet Knights for the first time since 2005, snapping Rutgers' 11-match winning streak.
Army captured the doubles point with a second-flight victory by Kirby Einck and Gloria Son, while sealing the match win in the fourth set with a come-from-behind victory from Nancy Porter.
Sophomore Melanie Allen earned the first victory of her career in the top singles flight with a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
Freshmen Danna Funaro and Yuka Lin made their dual debuts in the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
