Black Knights Suffer Setback to No.2 TCU

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 9 Army West Point rifle team dropped Saturday's home match to No. 2 TCU.

"TCU is a great team," said head coach Web Wright. "They are second in the NCAA for a reason. Mindy Miles shot, probably a near world record score today in air rifle. And she and Rachel Garner shot really well in smallbore. We did okay, but came up short score-wise.

"We start a break right now until next semester. We are going to focus on mental skills and confidence during the down time. We will hit it hard again once we get back from the holiday break. It's time to focus on ending the academic semester with a strong finish."
AGGREGATE (4642)- The Black Knights tallied an aggregate score of 4642, falling behind TCU's score of 4713.
- Junior Payne Nunn led the squad with an aggregate score of 1169, taking the fifth spot overall.
- He was followed by a trio of freshmen, Kaitlyn Kutz (1159), Matt Lovre (1156), and Clatyon Hanson (1147).
- TCU's Mindy Miles matched the Tronsrue individual aggregate record of 1185.
SMALLBORE (2299)
- Nunn led the squad in this discipline, shooting a score of 578.
- He was followed by Lovre and sophomore Nick Kanellis who both scored 575, one point higher than Hanson (574).
- Kutz trailed them by two, shooting 572, while junior Nathan Brewer and seniors Ethan Cook and Mike Garner all recorded marks of 570.
AIR RIFLE (2343)
- Nunn led Army in the air rifle with a score of 591, tying Army's top score for the season in this discipline.
- Kutz was close behind scoring 587, while sophomore Mady Erikson followed with a score of 584.
- Brewer recorded 581 and Hanson closed out the scoring squad recording a score of 573.
