Women's XC Ends Season at Northeast Regionals
November 10, 2017 | Women's Cross Country
BUFFALO, N.Y. – In the last meet of their season, the Army West Point women's cross country team placed 19th out of 37 competing schools at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships Friday morning.
Coach's Quotes:
"We were a little too tentative early in the race and we were unable to pick up the places that we needed to in order to move up in the standings," said head coach Mike Smith. "That was partly our mistake. We needed to be more aggressive early, and we weren't, and we paid for that. We are young and all of these women will return next year and I think that we can compete much better than we did and I'm hopeful that's what happens going forward."
"I think our team's performance wasn't as good as we hoped, but we have done really well this season," said sophomore Bethany Nunnery. "I think we are definitely moving up to where we could be in future years. During the race, I was just thinking about trying to pass as many people as I could, in order to help my team."
