Black Knights Top Holy Cross on the Road

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Led by 13 kill performances by Vanessa Wesley and Carolyn Bockrath, the Army West Point volleyball team won its second match of the weekend with a 3-0 sweep over Holy Cross on the road.
The Black Knights improved to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the Patriot League after the 2-0 performance this weekend.
Bockrath hit .600 in the match on 13 kills and 20 attacks, while Wesley was close behind with a .579 hitting percentage. Ellie Petersen stepped up big for the Black Knights with a team-leading 12 digs and Sydney Morriss had 10.
Haven Bethune controlled Army's offense with 23 assists. Allie Strong helped the Cadets' offense with two service aces and Bockrath and Bethune each posted three block assists.
The Black Knights jumped ahead in the first two sets to win 25-17 and 25-13. Holy Cross stayed in the final set until the end, but Army persevered to a 25-20 rout.
Army takes on Lehigh on the road next Friday at 5 p.m. The Black Knights will then return to action at Gillis Field House on Saturday when they host rival Navy at 7 p.m.
