WEST POINT, N.Y. – After an intense preseason, the Army West Point hockey team is ready to take on the American International Yellow Jackets at the Mass Mutual Center Friday and Saturday night.

ARMY (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Atlantic Hockey)
- The Black Knights welcome back a wealth of their roster, including 90% of the scoring offense from a year ago.
- Army did lose four-year starter Parker Gahagen from goal, but Cole Bruns is ready to step into the starting position for the Black Knights.
- Army welcomed nine freshmen to the roster, including fifth-round draft pick Matt Berkovitz.
- The Black Knights were chosen third in this year's Atlantic Hockey Preseason Coaches Poll behind reigning champion Air Force and Robert Morris.
- Six Black Knights boast over 100 games played in the Army sweater at the start of the season with many more hoping to crack the list.
AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Atlantic Hockey)
- AIC returns its top scorer from a season ago in Blake Christiensen.
- The senior forward boasted 21 points last season on eight goals and 13 assists.
- Dominik Florian also returns after posting a line of 10-10-20.
- Zackarias Skog will return to net for the Yellow Jackets with a 3.06 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.
DEVILS AT WEST POINT
- The hockey team had the opportunity to host the New Jersey Devils earlier this week at the U.S. Military Academy.
- The Devils came to campus for a team building experience which included tours, team hikes, practice at Tate, lunch with the team in the Mess Hall, weapons simulators, enhanced performance labs and a trip to the team leadership reaction course.
- Head Coach Brian Riley spent time discussing the selfless service and legacies of former players Major Thomas "TK" Kennedy and First Lieutenant Derek Hines.
OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION
- The Black Knights return 90% of their offensive production from last season and the top-nine point scorers.
- Leading the way is senior Conor Andrle with 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists.
- Zach Evancho (23), Dominic Franco (22), Tyler Pham (21) and Brendan Soucie (20) also notched at least 20 points.
- Last season, Army boasted 24 power play goals with Evancho leading the way with eight.
- Franco was the only member of the squad to notch two shorthanded goals.
BACK IN NET
- Cole Bruns has taken over Army's net this season.
- The senior goaltender stepped in for the Black Knights last season for 138:50 minutes.
- Bruns averaged 1.30 goals against and had a .949 saves percentage through four games and two starts.
SUMMER TRAINING
- It was not a typical summer for the Army hockey team.
- Three Black Knights traveled overseas for military training in Germany and Poland as another participated in the Maccabiah Games for Team USA.
- Other teammates were at various Army posts throughout the country to include Fort Benning, Fort Carson, Fort Hood, Fort Riley and Fort Sill.
RENEWING THE RIVALRY
- Army and American International will open the 2017-18 season facing off against each other after closing out the 2016-17 regular season opposite one another.
- The Black Knights boast a 63-29-7 lead in the all-time series and a .671 winning percentage.
- Since Eric Lang took over as the head coach of the Yellow Jackets last season, the Black Knights lead 2-1-1.
- AIC came back in the final two games of the season to earn three points against Army.
