Army Prepares for Meet with Lehigh on Friday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's swimming and diving team opens its spring schedule with a home dual-meet versus Lehigh at 5 p.m. Friday at Crandall Pool.

The Black Knights fell to Navy in the Star Meet, 156.4-143.5, at Crandall Pool on Dec. 3, 2016.
The trio of Sean Regan, Johnny Ellery and Peter Mikheyev swept the top three spots in the 200 butterfly with marks of 1:45.85, 1:46.32 and 1:48.18, respectively. For Regan, it was an academy record, while Ellery posted a new plebe mark.
Evin Rude posted a new academy record as he touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:36.77. Rude also tied for first in the 100 freestyle clocking in at 44.76 seconds.
Josh Sembrano tied his own academy record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.39 seconds.
ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
Lehigh enters the meet with a record of 3-2 on the season, including two consecutive wins over Loyola (W, 171-129) and Lafayette (W, 170-92).
Additionally, Seniors Jamal Willis and Justin White both earned qualifying bids to the finals of the 2016 AT&T Winter National Championships from Nov. 30 – Dec. 3. Willis placed third in his preliminary heat with a time of 20.33, the fastest time by a Lehigh swimmer this season and qualified for the B Final.
In the final, Willis recorded a strong time of 20.35 to finish fourth in his final heat and place 12th overall out of a final field of 24 swimmers. White came out with a solid performance in his preliminary heat as he placed second with a time of 20.74 to qualify for the C Final.
The senior swam in a time of 20.62 to finish second in his final heat and capture 18th place in the field of 24 swimmers who qualified for the finals.
