Coaches Comments
- Mike Smith - Director of Track and Field/Cross Country "The women's team took a big step forward this weekend. Our women seem to rise to the level of the competition and this meet forced people to get out of their comfort zone. The result for us were some big improvements. In the field, Brown was once again a significant performer in the shot put. She has shown now that she can compete with most of the people in our region and is ready for a breakthrough to bigger levels. Our women on the track and the oval were also very good today and yesterday. Mooradian's hurdle races were her best to date and she clearly is figuring thing out technically. Halbrook, Coletti and Mundekis were all in the hunt to win their events and McMullen raced very well in her events. All of those girls are either freshman or sophomores so they are only at the beginning of their careers and already are making a significant impact on our program. The personal bests, the top ten performances, the league leading marks are all nice, but what I like most about this entire women's group is how they compete to win. They did not shy away from the ACC schools when they went to Virginia Tech and they showed up and fought hard today against the Big Ten schools. We are putting up our best performances at the right time. We have a lot to look forward to as we head into the championship meets."
