Women’s Rugby Hosts Dartmouth in NIRA Showdown

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's rugby team faces off against Dartmouth in a National Intercollegiate Rugby Association matchup on Friday, Sept. 9, at 4 p.m. at the Anderson Rugby Complex.

The Black Knights are looking to rebound from their season-opening 32-19 defeat against the reigning NIRA champions, Quinnipiac. This will be the first time the two teams have met in program history.
ARMY (0-1, 0-1 NIRA)
• The Black Knights are 8-2 all-time at Anderson Rugby Complex.
• Army is also 8-2 in games following a loss.
• The Cadets led against Quinnipiac at halftime, 19-17, after tries from sophomore Mackenzie Garner and juniors Sydney Hawkins and Rebecca Stipp.
• Freshman Bayleigh Gable added two conversions.
DARTMOUTH (1-0, 1-0 NIRA)
• The Big Green upset an American International squad, 24-22, that finished its 2015 campaign third in the conference.
• Junior forward Ashley Zepeda, who is the team captain, opened the scoring in the 30th minute.
• Dartmouth led at halftime, 10-5, after a score from sophomore Danielle Ramsay.
• Freshman Becca Jane Rosco added two tries in the final 40 minutes to seal the victory for the Big Green.
UP NEXT
Army begins a three-game road trip to Springfield, Mass., against the Yellow Jackets on Sept. 17, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
