WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's cross country team will open its 2016 slate against the Maine Black Bears on Friday from Orono, Maine, at 3 p.m.
The Black Knights are kicking off their third season under head coach Mike Smith. After bringing in 10 new runners, Army is looking forward to seeing how its young talent will handle competition.
"We are looking forward to seeing what our athletes look like in competition," said Smith. "We are looking to see who will fit into the top 12, and how our freshmen have adapted to collegiate training. It is a beautiful area and the weather looks great so we are excited to evaluate our cadets in this format."
Army and Maine are facing off for the second consecutive year. Last year the Black Knights were victorious over the Black Bears winning by a score of 20-39.
