Patriot League Semifinals Come to Christl Arena

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The top-seeded Army West Point women's basketball team will host the first of two Patriot League semifinal games on Friday evening, as the Black Knights face No. 4 Lehigh at 5 p.m. No. 2 Bucknell at No. 3 Loyola will meet in the second contest at 7:30 p.m. Both semifinal games and Saturday's championship contest will be held at Christl Arena.

After defeating Colgate in the Patriot League quarterfinals for the second year in a row on March 7, Army faces Lehigh in the league semifinals for the second straight season. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Black Knights, 76-57, on March 9, 2015 at Christl Arena in last year's semifinal round.

Army shot exactly 50 percent (31-of-62) versus Colgate to mark its seventh 50 percent shooting game this year.

Senior Aimee Oertner turned in one of the best performances of her career on Monday night against Colgate, finishing one block shy of a triple-double with 18 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocks. Her nine blocks match the team record set by Pam Pearson (USMA '86). Oertner is averaging 13.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks over the last 10 games.

Army evened up its all-time series against Lehigh at 30 games apiece after a 69-49 over the Mountain Hawks on Feb. 27. Army swept Lehigh during the regular season, but the Mountain Hawks hold a slim 4-3 advantage in postseason games.

• Lehigh held a 51-36 advantage in rebounding in the contest and had four players total at least six boards.

Classmate Aimee Oertner was selected to the All-Patriot League second team and Janae McNeal was one of five players picked for the league's inaugural All-Defensive Team.
