Women’s Basketball Faces Road Test at Loyola

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point takes its eight-game winning streak on the road this weekend, as the Black Knights head to Baltimore, Md., to face Loyola on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.

STORYLINES
After extending its winning streak to a season-best seven games, Army heads out on a two-game road trip, beginning with a contest at Loyola on Saturday. The Black Knights played only three away games in January and will complete the regular season with six of their final eight games on the road.
Senior Kelsey Minato netted 33 points in Army's 84-57 win over Lafayette on Feb. 3 to build her double-digit scoring streak to 100 games, dating back to Jan. 12, 2013. Her scoring run is the longest active streak in the nation and is a Patriot League record.
With the win over Lafayette, tenth-year head coach Dave Magarity earned the 500th win of his career. Magarity's record over his 32-plus seasons as head coach is 500-441, including 23 years on the men's side. He is 187-108 since taking the position at Army prior to the 2006-07 season.
THE ARMY-LOYOLA SERIES
Army owns a 6-4 lead in its all-time series against Loyola, including a 5-0 record since the Greyhounds joined the Patriot League in 2013-14. The Black Knights collected a 70-37 earlier this season, on Jan. 9 at West Point.
ARMY WEST POINT (18-2, 9-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• With an 84-57 win over Lafayette on Feb. 3, Army improved to 18-2 on the season to mark its best overall start in program history, while extending its best Patriot League start to 9-1.
• Minato began the game 6-of-6 from three-point range, and made all seven of her shots to start the game, before finishing with 33 points.
• Senior Aimee Oertner came one rebound shy of a double-double, with 14 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Janae McNeal tallied 13 points and career highs of seven rebounds and seven assists.
• Army pulled down 47 rebounds to match its season high in the category, after also grabbed 47 boards against Navy on Jan. 23.
• Minato moved up to 2,292 career points and stands 34 points shy of passing Kevin Houston's (USMA '87) Academy scoring record of 2,325 points.
LOYOLA (9-12, 6-4 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Loyola dropped a 76-68 decision to Lehigh in its last outing on Feb. 3.
• Four different players scored in double figures for the Greyhounds, including sophomore Bri Betz-White (17 points), senior Jeneh Perry (13), senior Colleen Marshall (10) and junior Lisa Mirarchi (10).
• Marshall ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 15.3 points per game and also stands fourth in the conference with 35.0 minutes per game.
• With a 6-4 Patriot League record, Loyola has already surpassed in conference win totals from each of the past two seasons, after winning two league games in 2013-14 and earning five Patriot League victories last year.
MAGARITY REACHES 500-WIN MILESTONE
Tenth-year head coach Dave Magarity picked up his 500th career head coaching victory after Army defeated Lafayette, 84-57, on Feb. 3. Now in his 33rd year as a head coach, he owns a current record 500-441, including 23 seasons on the men's side with Marist (18 years) and St. Francis (Pa.) (five years) and nine-plus seasons as a women's coach at Army. He became the 54th active college basketball coach (men's or women's) to reach the 500-win mark, and joined Lafayette's Theresa Grentz (675 wins) and Holy Cross' Bill Gibbons (579 wins) as the only two current Patriot League coaches to get to 500.
MINATO'S DOUBLE-DIGIT SCORING STREAK
Senior Kelsey Minato scored 33 points against Lafayette on Feb. 3 to reach the double-digit scoring mark for the 100th consecutive game. Her double figures streak dates back to an 18-point performance against Bucknell during her freshman season, on Jan. 12, 2013. Minato's current streak leads all active players in the NCAA Division I ranks. Additionally, she has 107 career double-digit scoring games and sits two shy of Molly Creamer's (Bucknell '03) Patriot League record of 109 games.
