Women’s Basketball Heads to Holy Cross Wednesday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team kicks off a two-game road swing with a matchup at Holy Cross on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. The Black Knights are on the road for four of their last five regular-season contests.

STORYLINES
The Black Knights return to the road for back-to-back games, as Army plays four of its final five regular season contests away from Christl Arena. Army faces a Holy Cross team on Wednesday that sits tied for third in the Patriot League.
Army scored a season-high 87 points in its last outing against American, including season-best 73 points from the starting five. Seniors Kelsey Minato (22 points), Aimee Oertner (18) and Jean Parker, and sophomore Janae McNeal (14) all hit the double-digit scoring mark.
The Black Knights look to match the longest winning streak in team history (12 games in 2006-07) after collecting its 11th win in a row against American.
THE ARMY-HOLY CROSS SERIES
Holy Cross holds a 34-25 lead in an all-time series between the schools that dates back to Jan. 23, 1991. The Black Knights have won four straight in the series, including a 77-58 victory on Jan. 20 at West Point. The Crusaders are 19-10 in the series at home, but Army has won three in a row in Worcester, Mass.
ARMY WEST POINT (21-2, 12-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Army extended its winning streak to 11 games after posting a season-high 87 points in an 87-51 victory over American on Feb. 13.
• The win improved the Black Knights to 13-0 at Christl Arena this season and built their home unbeaten streak to 20 games, dating back to last season.
• The Black Knights matched their season high of free-throws made in a single game, after going 26-of-30 at the line (also made 26 at Yale on Dec. 3).
• Oertner led the way from the charity stripe with a career-best eight free-throws (8-for-8), while Minato (6-for-6), sophomores Aliyah Murray (4-for-4) and Destinee Morris (2-for-2), and senior Brianna Johnson (1-for-1) were all perfect on their free-throw attempts.
• McNeal collected 14 rebounds to mark her first career double-double. Her 14 boards in the contest are the most by an Army player this season and the most in a game since Jen Hazlett (USMA '14) had 16 rebounds at Boston University on Jan. 26, 2014.
HOLY CROSS (11-13, 8-5 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Holy Cross picked up its second straight win, defeating Lehigh, 77-71, in overtime on Feb. 13.
• Five different Crusaders scored at least 10 points, including senior Lisa Mifsud (21 points), sophomore Infiniti Thomas-Waheed (17), senior Molly Hourigan (11), sophomore Katie Dougherty (11) and sophomore Tricia Byrne (10).
• Hourigan also finished with a double-double in the win, collecting 13 rebounds to go with her 11 points.
• Thomas-Waheed paces the Crusaders with 13.3 points per game during Patriot League competition, while Mifsud and Byrne also average in double figures against conference opponents, with 12.2 points per game and 10.4 points per game, respectively.
HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Kelsey Minato set Army's career scoring record, including both men's and women's players, with 29 points at Colgate on Jan. 10. She passed Kevin Houston's (USMA '87) career total of 2,325 points against Colgate after becoming the Army women's basketball team's career scoring leader on Dec. 3 against Yale.
Minato also ranks second on the Patriot League women's basketball career scoring ledger, and enters the week 105 points short of Molly Creamer's (Bucknell '03) mark of 2,462.
