Army Opens League Play with Lehigh and Bucknell

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team begins its 18-game Patriot League schedule at Lehigh on Friday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. before welcoming Bucknell to Christl Arena three days later on Monday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.

STORYLINES
Army is 17-9 in Patriot League openers since the conference began in 1990-91. The Cadets are 9-1 in league openers under 11th-year head coach Dave Magarity, and are 4-4 when starting the conference season against Lehigh.
Sophomore Madison Hovren enters Patriot League play with a league-best 19.0 points per game, while ranking second in the conference with 9.9 rebounds per game.

Army won all three matchups last season, including a 76-46 victory in the Patriot League semifinals on March 11, 2016. • Army enters Patriot League action with a 9-2 record, most recently defeating Mercy College, 90-48, on Dec. 17.
• The Black Knights hit the 90-point mark for the first time since defeating Staten Island, 108-64, on Dec. 29, 2013, and did so for the 18th time in team history.
• Army hit a team-record-tying 13 three-pointers in the win over Mercy.
• Hovren's double-double streak came to an end at six, but she led all players with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and added seven rebounds.
• Junior Destinee Morris and freshman Morgann Yancey each netted 12 points off the bench, with Morris shooting 4-of-6 from deep and Yancey going a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range.

• Mann begins Patriot League play as the conference's second-leading scorer with 17.6 points per game.

• Bucknell was last in action on Dec. 20, when it defeated Manhattan, 69-64, to finished nonconference play 8-3.
