WEST POINT, N.Y. – Led by 11 kills from firstie captain Olivia Fairfield, the Army West Point volleyball team swept Lafayette, 3-0, on Friday night at Gillis Field House.

- The Black Knights improve to 9-4 in Patriot League play.
- Army had a .320 hitting percentage in the win with Rachel Gearon leading the way with a .530 percentage.
- The Black Knights held the Leopards to a .020 hitting percentage.
- Shannel Chong had a game high 14 digs, while Allie Strong and Ellie Peterson chipped in with 10 apiece.
- The Black Knights jumped out to an early 14-4 lead in the first set, but Lafayette climbed back into the match.
- The Leopards got the score down to 24-18, but a kill by Gearon put the set away. Fairfield led the way with six kills in the opening set.
- Army once again came out on fire and built another 14-4 advantage in the second set. This time the Leopards had no answer and the Black Knights went up 2-0 in the match with a 25-11 set victory.
- Carolyn Bockrath finished the set with four kills, while Fairfield dropped three more strikes.
- The Black Knights had a slow start to the third set, allowing Lafayette an early 7-6 lead.
- Army then went on an 11-2 run to break open the final set and earn the 25-13 victory and the sweep. Vanessa Wesley saw a lot of playing time in the final set and earned five kills.

- Gearon served seven-straight points in the third set to erase an early deficit. Wesley had three kills during the run to break open the third set.
- The Black Knights return to Gillis Field House tomorrow night to host service academy rival Navy at 7 p.m.
