Army Rebounds with Statement Victory Over WJU

WHEELING, W. Va. – The Army West Point men's rugby team defeated Wheeling Jesuit 53-7 at Bishop Schmitt Field on Saturday.
The Black Knights improved to 7-1 on the season and 6-1 in Rugby East play, while the Cardinals fell to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in conference.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Today's 53 points scored by Army marked the fifth time in nine matches that the Black Knights have eclipsed the 50-point mark. It was also the sixth time they have held opponents to fewer than 10 points in the 2016-17 campaign.
- Junior Austen Deppe made his collegiate debut in the starting 15 versus the Cardinals.
- Junior fly half Jon Kim's 28-point performance ranks second in Army's varsity rugby history behind only Andrew Borer's 30 points against Oklahoma last season.
- Kim now holds the varsity record for points in a single season with 102 and is six away from the career record. He also set the varsity single-game record for penalty kicks with five, surpassing the previous varsity record of three held by himself, Thomas Del Pino (vs. Wheeling Jesuit in 2015-16) and Borer (vs. Oklahoma in 2015-16).
- Junior Jake Lachina scored his seventh try of the season, which leads the Black Knights. He now ranks fifth on Army's all-time varsity scoring list with 85 points, while his 17 career tries ranks him second all-time since the fall of 2014.
