First-Place Bucknell Comes to Christl Arena Saturday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team kicks off back-to-back games at Christl Arena, when it hosts Patriot League-leading Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. The game will be presented by St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital.

The matchup features the top two teams in the Patriot League, as Bison enter with a perfect 8-0 conference mark and the Black Knights come in 7-1 in the league. Army's only conference setback came in a 79-69 defeat at Bucknell on Jan. 2.

STORYLINES
The Black Knights secured their fourth consecutive Star victory over Navy on Jan. 23 at Madison Square Garden, as Army's seniors became the sixth class in the team's 39-year history to sweep Navy in Star games. The Star Game in basketball is generally the final regular-season matchup of the year between the rival academies, but it was played first this season to allow Army's home game take place at Madison Square Garden. The winners of the Star Game are awarded a Gold Star for their letterman's jackets, while winners in the Army-Air Force rivalry are presented with a Silver Star.

With the win over Navy, tenth-year head coach Dave Magarity moved within two victories of reaching 500 for his career. Magarity's record over his 32-plus seasons as head coach is 498-441, including 23 years on the men's side. He is 185-108 since taking the position at Army prior to the 2006-07 season.

Bucknell leads Army, 33-24, in an all-time series that dates back to 1983-84. The Black Knights hold a 16-12 advantage in games played at West Point, including wins in four straight home games.

ARMY WEST POINT (16-2, 7-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Senior Kelsey Minato led all scorers with 22 points, while adding five rebounds and four assists, and connecting on 4-of-8 attempts from three-point range against the Midshipmen.
• Classmate Jean Parker netted 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, which included a 3-of-5 showing from deep.
• Sophomores Destinee Morris and Aliyah Murray each contributed eight points off the bench, and senior Aimee Oertner tallied seven points and a game-high eight rebounds.
• The Black Knights raced out to a 16-2 lead after the first 4:02 of the opening quarter before leading, 25-9, after the first period. Army led by at least 14 points for the remainder of the contest.
• Army finished with 47 rebounds to mark its highest total of the season and its 10th game this year with at least 40 boards.

• Bucknell collected its eighth win in a row with a 74-56 home victory over Boston University on Jan. 23.
• Sophomore Jacquie Klotz scored 21 points and added 13 rebounds, while junior Claire DeBoer also finished with 21 points.
• Senior Tyler Craig totaled 10 points and junior Sune Swart tallied eight points and five boards.
• The Bison are 8-0 in Patriot League action for the first time in school history. Klotz and DeBoer rank second and third in the Patriot League, with 16.2 points per game and 15.9 points per game, respectively, while Klotz also averages 10.2 rebounds.

OFF THE BENCH
Army's reserve players as a whole have played a significantly larger role in the team's scoring output so far this season compared to last. Through 18 games this year, the Black Knights' bench is averaging 18.7 points per game and accounts for 27.1 percent of the team's total points. The 18.7 point per game is up from an average of 9.8 points per game from the reserves in 2014-15, when the Army's bench made up 16.2 percent of its points. Murray and freshman Madison Hovren pace Army's reserves with 4.5 points per game and 4.3 point per game, respectively.
