Women’s Soccer Begins Road Swing

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team heads to the road for the first of two three-game swings away from home this season. The Black Knights will take on DePaul and Loyola Chicago this weekend, before taking on Connecticut on Friday, Sept. 11.
Through four games, the Black Knights have a pair of victories over Sacred Heart and Youngstown State. Their losses have been on the road to Delaware (2-0) and at home to defending Ivy League champion Harvard (1-0).
Army West Point has scored six goals, all from different players, including three freshmen. In the 2-1 victory over Youngstown State, Samantha Sullenger scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.
Patriot League play begins on Sept. 18 at home against Navy in the first star match of 2015-16.
Army's first opponent of the weekend, the DePaul Blue Demons are ranked at No. 20 in the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) national rankings and No. 19 in the Soccer America Women's Top 25 poll. On the season, DePaul has scored 17 goals, while conceding only one and own a 3-0-1 mark. In their last two games, the Blue Demons have shutout victories over Eastern Michigan (7-0) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (5-0).
Elise Wyatt notched a hat trick in the victory over EMU and earned NSCAA College Soccer Player of the Week honors after adding two more goals against Saint Francis. Wyatt ranks third in the NCAA in goals (6) and fourth in the nation in points (14). As a team, DePaul (3-0-1) is seventh in the country in total goals (14) and eighth in total points (38). The Blue Demons rank 11th in scoring offense at 3.5 goals per game.

Entering this weekend Loyola Chicago owns a 2-1-1 mark with victories over UNC Greensboro (3-2 2OT) and Saint Francis (2-0). The Ramblers travel north to take on Wisconsin on Friday evening prior to Sunday's 2 p.m. ET kickoff with the Black Knights. Last time out, Eastern Michigan edged the Ramblers 1-0.
Loyola Chicago was picked to finish sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll after advancing to the MVC Tournament in 2014. The Ramblers have six starters back from last season's team that finished with a 5-13-1 overall record. The team is led by a pair of 2014 All-Missouri Valley Conference selections in junior Shelby Koch and sophomore Katie Grall. After the first week of the season, senior Kristin Rodriguez was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Maddie Ford was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week.
