CLEARWATER, Fla. - Taylor Deason fired a three-hit shutout and Sam Taylor doubled in a pair of runs and scored in a four-run sixth parking Chattanooga's 6-0 win over Army at the USF Spring Break Tournament held at the Eddie C. Moore Complex Saturday evening in the final game of the day for both teams.

After the Mocs (16-7) jumped out to a 2-0 lead (the first run unearned) in the top of the first inning, Army hurler Kristen West (4-3) kept UTC off the scoreboard over the next four innings. She scattered three hits and stranded four base runners before the Mocs tacked on insurance runs in a four-run sixth.

Chattanooga collected four hits, to include back-to-back doubles, in that frame to pull out to a 6-0 lead.

West, who scattered nine hits, struck out two and walked two, closed out the game retiring five straight batters.

After being touched for a pair of back-to-back singles off the bats of Kristen McPeek and Xiomara Perez in the first inning, Deason retired 14 straight batters, five by strikeout, before having her string snapped by Kasey McCravey's full-count one-out single up the middle in the top of the sixth.

Deason (8-3), who struck out seven batters and issued just walk, retired the next four batters to preserve her shutout.

The Black Knights (7-11) take on Central Connecticut State at 11:15 and host USF at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
