Women’s Basketball Travels to Yale Thursday Night

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team makes the trip to New Haven, Conn., to face Yale on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Black Knights are in search of their first road win of the season after falling at Duke in their only away contest thus far.

STORYLINES
Army comes into the week after defeating Rider, 57-42, on Nov. 29 at Christl Arena after a week off from competition. The Black Knights held the Broncs to 42 points, the lowest for an Army opponent this season, despite Army shooting its lowest percentage of the year (36.7).
Senior Kelsey Minato leads the Black Knights in scoring with 22.2 points per game through five contests this season and finds herself 18 points shy of becoming the Academy's career scoring leader. Minato currently stands at 1,924 career points and is second only to Army Hall of Famer Katie Macfarlane's (USMA '04) program record of 1,941 points.

THE ARMY-YALE SERIES
Army holds an 18-10 lead over Yale in a series that dates back to Army's first-ever varsity season of 1977-78. The teams last met on Dec. 7, 2013, with the Black Knights winning, 68-56, at Yale. The Bulldogs control a 9-5 advantage in the series in games played in New Haven.
ARMY WEST POINT (4-1) NOTES
• Senior Jean Parker led all scorers with a season-best 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including a 4-of-7 showing from behind the three-point line. Parker also added six rebounds and two steals.
• The Black Knights outrebounded the Broncs, 41-28, to mark their fourth 40-rebound game of the year, surpassing last year's total of three. Additionally, Army posted a season-best 17 offensive rebounds in the win.
• Minato chipped in 11 points, while sophomore Lena' Hicks finished with eight points and four boards.
• Senior Aimee Oertner matched career highs with 12 rebounds and five assists, while registering a season-best five blocks and five points.
YALE (5-3) NOTES
• Yale has won two of its last three contests, including a 62-36 home victory over Manhattan on Dec. 1.
• Senior Nyasha Sarju paced the Bulldogs with 12 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Tamara Simpson (10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals) and junior Meghan McIntyre (10 points, 6 assists) also had impressive showings for the home team.
• Four players average at least 8.0 points per game for Yale, including Sarju (16.4 ppg), senior Whitney Wyckoff (9.5 ppg), sophomore Clara Mokri (8.5 ppg) and Simpson (8.4 ppg).
• Yale's previous four victories came against Albertus Magnus (11/15), Iona (63-48), Fairleigh Dickinson (77-58) and Holy Cross (69-59).
