Men's Basketball Tries for Third Victory at FDU

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team looks to improve to 3-0 in 2015-16 when it takes on Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night. Opening tip from the Rothman Center is set for 7 p.m. and it can be seen online on NECFrontRow.com.

STORYLINES
Army opened its 2015-16 season with a 39-point victory over Ferrum College on Friday night at Christl Arena. The Black Knights went on the road on Sunday and improved to 2-0 with a 75-60 win over Binghamton.
Kevin Ferguson (18, 12), Tanner Plomb (17, 23) and Kyle Wilson (15, 16) have each scored in double figures in the first two games of the season. Tanner Plomb reached the 20-point mark for the 11th time in his career in the Binghamton victory.
The Black Knights posted a 15-15 record last season, including a 6-12 mark in Patriot League play. Army was 7-8 on the road, including a 4-1 record in non-conference road games.
Together, Wilson and Plomb were the top scoring duo in the Patriot League in 2014-15 with an average of 33.3 points per game. Wilson was second in scoring in the conference at 17.5 points per game, while Plomb ranked fourth overall with a 15.8 points per game average. Plomb (20.0 ppg) and Wilson (15.5 ppg) are averaging 35.5 points per night through the first two games, good for third in the conference.
Following the win at Binghamton, Army improved to 60-23 during the Spiker era when leading at the half, including 27-3 when ahead by double digits at intermission, and Army improved to 38-12 when holding opponents to 60 points or less during the same time frame.
Army returned 91.6 percent of its scoring and 92.9 percent of its rebounding from last season, including seven seniors, which is tied for the most in program history. Army returned 140 of a possible 150 starts from the 2014-15 season with Dylan Cox, Kyle Wilson, Larry Toomey, Tanner Plomb and Kevin Ferguson returning for their senior season.
Wilson, led the Patriot League in scoring for the second consecutive season with 17.5 points per game as a junior. He is 31 points shy of Chris Spatola '02, who is sixth in Academy history with 1,543 career points.
The Black Knights have held consecutive opponents under 60 points for the first time since the 2013-14 season against Coast Guard and Lafayette.
The Black Knights recently named their team captains. Seniors Cox, Wilson, Toomey and Plomb were chosen by their teammates. Cox is in his third season as a team captain, linking him with Matt Bell '07 as the only three-year captains in program history.
