Women’s Tennis Gets Main Draws Underway at ITAs

HANOVER, N.H. – Competing against the top athletes in the Northeast, members of the Army West Point women's tennis team will get the main draws of the ITA Regional Tournament underway on Friday.

Carolyn Pitman will compete in singles action, taking on Priyanaka Shah of Cornell.

Both Kirby Enick and Rugile Valuniate competed in the qualifier round, but were unable to claim the two victories needed to advance. Enick claimed a victory over Thandiwe Kangwa of Seton Hall in the first match, 6-3, 7-4 (4), but fell to Zofia Stanisz of St. John's 6-0, 6-2. Valuniate dropped a 6-1, 7-6 (2) decision to Shea Flanagan of UConn in the first round.

On the doubles courts, Pitman and Sung will take on a duo from Yale in the opening round, while Enick and Nancy Porter will face off with a pair from Syracuse to kick things off.
