WEST POINT, N.Y. - Columbia put together 13 hits against seven Army pitchers and posted a 4-0 victory, Thursday in a non-conference game at Johnson Stadium.
The Lions, out of the Ivy League, scored runs in three innings to win their sixth game of the season.
Army, coming off a 7-1 spring trip, fell to 14-7.
Thomas Crispi earned the win for Columbia, ruining Army's home-opener. Crispi threw 5.1 innings, allowed two hits and struck out two before giving way to the bullpen.
Erik Washburn started on the mound for Army and took the loss after throwing two innings. He allowed one run, struck out two and walked two before giving way to Brian Hapeman. Hapeman gave up four hits, one run and struck out one in 2.1 innings of work. Patrick Gardner earned the final two outs in the fifth.
Brock Davidson entered for Army in the top of the sixth and struck out one before giving way to Johnny Griffith. Griffith was perfect in his inning of work and Justin French threw the eighth. Julian Larimer worked the ninth.
Columbia took an early leading, scoring once in the second inning on a run-scoring single from Robb Paller.
Army had baserunners in the second, third and fourth innings but did not score. In the second, Mark McCants walked, Kris Lindner singled in the third and Jacob Page secured a base hit in the fourth.
Logan Bohyer extended the Columbia lead to 2-0 when he hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth.
Alex Jensen and Connor Love both singled in the seventh but Army failed to break through.
Mike Fischer knocked in two runs in the top of the ninth inning to stretch the Columbia lead to 4-0.
Army will begin Patriot League play this weekend with four games against Lehigh at Doubleday Field. Saturday's games are set for noon, while Sunday's is scheduled for 1 p.m.
