Kittle In Second Place In Heptathlon Following First Day

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Christopher Kittle's winning performance in the high jump vaulted him into second-place in the team scoring with 2,732 points following the conclusion of the first four events of the Heptathlon the opening day of the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships being hosted by Bucknell.
Kittle stood fifth with 1,947 points following the first three events after placing fourth in the long jump (21-02.5) along with a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 60-meter dash (7.48) and shot put (35-09.5).
The multi-event performance leaped six feet, six inches to beat the field in the high jump and boost his point total to 2,732 to trail first-day leader Ryan Paquin of Lehigh's score of 2889. With four of seven events completed, Paquin was first in two events, the 60-meter dash, and long jump, and second in the high jump and shot put. Kittle finished fourth at last year's meet with 4,680 points.
Sophomore Morgan Rennekamp was among the field in the women's pentathlon where she posted 2,712 points in the five-event competition. She ran a 9.66 in the 60-meter hurdles, cleared 4-9.5 in the high jump, threw the shot put 33-1, clocked a 3:00.37 in the 800 meter run and leaped 15-2 ¼ in the long jump.
The heptathlon concludes on Saturday at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run. There will also be titles handed out on Saturday in men and women's weight throw, long jump and high jump in the field as well as the men and women's 5,000-meter run and 4 X 800m relay on the track. The day's schedule also features prelims in the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles.
